Two things from the big M today... The XBOX 360 was launched in the UK. You can read a decent review about the system and its games here.
My opinion is still undecided - the console looks great (even though it's no smaller than the original) and the games are enticing, but all reviewers are saying that to get its full potential you need a HD capable display. I'm not going to purchase a decent TV until I've got my own place, so no lovely XBOX 360 graphics for me.
Also, Direct X 10 and Vista news is floating around the net. Microsoft are going to be releasing DX10 with the new version of Windows - Vista, which is due for release in the second half of next year (August-December '06). The problem lies in the fact that DX10 will be developed mainly for Vista, and XP will have to use some form of a software emulator to run DX10, along with all DX10 games. This is going to annoy gamers, as it'll require them to purchase a copy of Vista, or run XP with the emulated DX10, which will put a huge dent on performance. Read more here and here.
I know that I'll end up dual booting again - XP for DX9 and below games, Vista for DX10 and above games. Simplest solution.
