Ant and Dec are probably a 'love them or hate them' kinda duo. I know several people who absolutely deteste them, but on the other hand, I know those that think they're great. Byker Grove was cool when they were in it...
So, using my 'cool' formula, Alien Autopsy is cool because they are in it.
I went to see it on release day (Friday) as there's nothing else interesting in the cinema at the moment, and I've not been for a month or so - in fact the last film I did see at the cinema was Munich.
I vaguely remember the fuss back in 1995 about the video, so I wont go into any detail about that. But the film itself is very very good. I was surprised to see that IMDB gave it 1.5/10. But that's the Americans for you - they probably didn't 'get it'.
Empire (on the flipside) gave it 3 stars which isn't bad, and Jonathan Ross said he loved the film.
My verdict? Ant and Dec can act. I used to be one of the detesters, until I saw one of them down a pint, in under 3 seconds on live TV - though I keep forgetting which is which.
The plot is very good, based on the true story of the Alien Autopsy video aired in 1995 around the world. It's also from a different perspective to what you'd expect, with a few twists here and there for good measure.
If I had a ratings system for films, I'd give this film a 7/10.
