This film really surprised me, and I mean really.

I'm thinking it'll be my best film of 2006, which is saying something seeing as it's barely even February...

It's a long film, 165 minutes so almost a Kong/LOTR affair. But unlike the latter two, Memoirs isn't at too long, as it doesn't drag or tire you at any stage.

The imagery and setting is as good as Hero, Flying daggers and Crouching Tiger, hardly surprising seeing as they're all from the Far East. The storyline is immaculate, even if a bit obvious at times.

Definately one for the couples when valentines day arrives...

Just dont mention this film to the Japanese, where in Japan this film has caused a major uproar as to the fact that the Geisha are played by Chinese actresses lol.

Some interesting info...

John Williams (Star Wars fame) turned down the score for Harry Potter 4, in favour of this film.
