The parts for my Mini-itx PC arrived today! I'll be putting together a project log once it is finished, but basically it is one of, if not the smallest PC available on the market.

Available from mini-itx.com it's a 533MHz VIA affair, which will probably utilise 512MB PC133 SD-RAM along with a tiny 512MB CF-II card as the Hard-Drive. I've got a larger 2.2GB drive on its way, but I'll probably keep that for Windows 2000.

I'll be running DSL (Damn Small Linux) on the thing, with Firefox and that'll be pretty much it. I just don't like the idea of running a 530w PC for when I need to browse the Internet - the mini-itx PC uses a tiny 60w PSU!

For around £150, this project is turning out to be my cheapest (by far) to date. It'll be named Project Dinky I reckon...

I want one for downloading... does it have usb ports? I almost turned my xbox (original) into a linux downloading box one time. Which is nice.

Will it run Oblivion?

Noobzozrz

It has 2 USB 1.1 ports, with a further 2 available via motherboard pins.

Check through the site, you'll see beefier versions which include dual network slots, 1GHz+ speeds and Pentium M editions.

I never thought of using it for downloading - I'll chuck a bit-torrent client on it and see. The whole thing is tiny and will draw nothing - less than a light bulb. I'll put up some pics and a full log soon.

Matt

cool tell me how it is for torrents

adamskwii

Will do.

A bit off topic - but just got in from seeing Borat and it is the funniest filum evar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Funnier than Team America, funnier than anything. He is a mentalist and I like. High five!

Matt

Its good that Finally i feel everyone now recognises the Borat genius.

adamskwii

He is 100 times better than on the Ali G show in the filum. I gotta go see it a 2nd time!

I keep getting flashbacks of different scenes through the film today - and then burst into random fits of laughter...

Matt

I gotta disagree, all the film clips ive seen are piss funny but ive seen the jokes and even the sketches before on either ali g show or 11 o clock show, so its just that he's put them all together in 1 mighty place and linked em all up smooth with better editing to keep the film at a faster pace. I may be proved wrong on monday when i go watch it but i cant see it suprising me, i think i know what im in for. The good thing about Borat is his jokes dont get old for me fast because its as much his facial and physical expressionism that makes me laugh than it is his written material.

oh, and I want a woman who is good with plow and has teeth on the inside of her mouth.

It'll shock you then. That I know for sure. Some scenes shocked me more than I was expecting - far more! You'll be in for a surprise!!!

Matt

good job good job

Ok better ask in case you know. This school website Ive fixed uses a little bit of code to change the cursor. The headteacher said he hated it and asked if it could be replaced. Each html page has this bit of code so that's about 30 pages I need to alter. Just wondered if there was a easier way to do it so that i could have a little bit of code to just override the other or if i have to just edit each page? prob wouldn't take that long to edit anyway it just seems like a faff. Borat tonight woowoo!

Open up Dreamweaver, copy the code you want to replace and put it into the 'Find and Replace' box. Replace it with a comment, for example. There's an option somewhere on the Find and Replace box to find the code in files within a folder (instead of within the one file). It'll take a few seconds, but should replace all the code with the comment.

Shout if what I've put doesn't make sense. Now you see why one CSS file is a lot easier, as you can simply remove the cursor from it - and it would affect all 30 files.

Matt

Ahhh very good, im glad i asked now! Yeah I see why CSS is a good jobber. tbh id love to start this whole website again but im not confident enough anyone would like it. I think for all the new sections i add ill use a CSS file. cheers

adamskii

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, let me know if the find/replace worked. Should have done, as I use it to find snippets of code in 3rd party installs - saves trawling through lots of code you didn't write, to alter something.

Matt

worked awesome thanks. this is gonna be a big help, tons of code i can edit easy now
