Today was to be a busy day for me at work... first off, I had to be up 15 minutes earlier than usual and into work for 8:45. Once in work, I had to pick up the minibus from a colleague's house and drive it with another colleague and a learner to Skegness. At Skegness, we were to pick up another 4 learners and an extra colleague - and then proceed to drive to Sandringham in Norfolk.
Sounds relatively simple. 30 minutes to work. An hour to Skegness. 2 hours to Norfolk. 3 hours at a craft event or something. Then 2 hours back to Skegness. An hour to work. 30 minutes home. Which would mean I'd be back in the warmth of this house by 7pm or so.
However, no sooner had I picked up the minibus and just got used to driving the ~55MPH shit-piece, that it broke down! A quick call to work and we were given a lift back. Then I decided to sit it all out and spend the day at the office. Though my colleague proceeded to take the learner and meet up with the others at Skegness - in the learner's car.
Another however - about 2 hours into the journey (from work), the learner's car broke down! RAC came out and met them, but her membership wasn't the full whack, so she couldn't get a lift back to Lincoln. Instead, she had to fork out £150 or drive a bit closer, so that her car was within the range of her RAC membership. My colleague got a lift back to work in the end, but we've still not heard from the learner - she could still be sitting by the roadside, awaiting a recovery vehicle that WILL do as it says on the tin.
So, the moral of the story is - things can happen in twos. Lightning can strike twice - or in this case, a broken vehicle.
