Woo!

Finally all the parts have arrived for my new computer! Last night I did a quick (well an hour) test run, to ensure everything fitted correctly and POSTed OK...

2.0GHz being the norm for my 4000 Dual Core chip, but it easily hit 2.4GHz with a simple FSB increase. Once I've finished the project (hopefully this weekend) I'll be testing it and trying to overclock it as much as possible. The temps are really low - ~28'c last night in all the heat, so 3.0GHz may be possible. Afterall, others have reached it on stock air cooling, so I should be able to with pretty much the best air cooling possible...

If all that confused you, then don't worry. I'll post some pictures when it is all done...

Latest bit-tech log here.

What file type is it? I've got a file upload here, but I may need to change the script to accept your file type.

Back on topic - I should be saving myself a good £500 or so. I briefly overclocked my 4000 to 2.4GHz, a measley 400MHz increase, but that's the difference between a 4800+ X2 and a 4000+ X2. I should be able to hit 2.8GHz I reckon, which is the equivalent to an FX-62, AMD's fastest chip...

Whereas an FX-62 costs around £700, my 4000+ cost just £195. Saving me about £500. Simple Maths...
