I'm needing some feedback for slickhouse, mainly to direct my [limited] development time this year.

2007 is a busy year after all for me, as I'm off to Tunisia next week; flying out to Botswana in July; starting my C&G 7407 Stage 2 Certificate in FE Teaching; I aim to teach myself PHP properly and I'll make my first million too.

In amongst all that and my job/spare time, I aim to completely re-design slickhouse.com - once and for all. I've been planning a re-design pretty much since last January when Version 5 went live, and have narrowed my choices down to two options:

1) Use WordPress as my Content Management System (CMS), integrating my existing blog content into the website as a whole. The only hard-work involved would be to build a WordPress theme from scratch.

2) Build my own CMS from scratch, using PHP/XHTML/CSS. This will hopefully be able to use the existing blog content, but I'm not 100% certain at this point in time. It'll involve much more development time, but hopefully the resulting CMS can be used on other projects and made Open Source for others to use.

Either way, I'll be using my Ubuntu webserver (if the parts ever arrive) for development, before I make the whole thing live. Let me know what you think...

Do 1, No, 2. No do 1. Wordpress seems pretty decent.

That "300" movie is looking top: http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/763/763580p1.html

Aight, the Empire preview made it look pretty coo-el. I'm looking forward to seeing Hot Fuzz, but unfortunately I don't have any time until March now :/

Matt

Hot Fuzz reviews are tippidy top too. I was going to go this weekend but im of home instead.

it says in MCV that codemasters are offering a £99 subscription plan for LOTRinger MMO which is a lifetime subscription fee. Thats a very good idea I think, all MMO's should follow this idea.

Bannanas are tasty fruit.

Not sure about the poll as i have never used wordpress.

I'll take that as a CMS vote then Byron. I think I'm going to do both - as I like madness. But there is a plan behind me madness.

£99 is a good idea, hopefully many will use a trial or one month subscription first, as I would have been pissed off paying £99 for Everquest II lol.

Matt

yeah right haha

After doing a Goolge search for slickhouse as i can never be arsed to type it in the address bar, i noticed that the search result used to be Slickhouse.com all over the page but now there is only one instance although top of the search.

Very very weird - I did the exact same an hour or two ago and noticed the lack of slickhouse on the first page. I'm not too bothered, but will be if it drops from the top spot - giving way to that Russian pansey with flowers or something in his hair.

Matt

this is a disgrace: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2007/02/23/european_ps3_has_less_functionality_than_us_japan/ So Europe pay more for less now.

Always been the same, nob heads. Good job i dont want one. I think it will piss alot of people off that were thinking of getting one just because they are taking the piss.

My sister boyfriend preordered his a while back and sold his ps2 already. When I tell him he wont be able to play many ps2 games he gonna hit the roof. Serves him right for diving head first I guess.

oh yeah ^ they got married. I was at the wedding and everything.... not boyfriend anymore then... wtf is wrong with my brain :(

Interesting detour - but I agree, the PS3 looks even shiter with all the latest screw-ups for us Europeans.

Back on topic, and to pretty much clear this post up... I've decided to opt for option 1) for V6 of slickhouse.com - work for which will begin ASAP as my webserver parts have now arrived. I'll make my own CMS (option 2) in the near future still, but maybe keep it for side-projects. I'll be keeping you all up-to-date with V6's progress, along with migrating everything to WordPress and making a theme from scratch - which I'll make available to everyone.
