The ATI brand will be no more very soon. For those interested, ATI was purchased by AMD recently and is in the process of migrating ATI into AMD.

The current news is that AMD will be dropping the ATI brand altogether, meaning that in the near future, hardware enthusiasts will have to choose between AMD or nVidia GPUs and AMD or Intel CPUs.

Personally I think it's a bold move, which will no doubt lead to a lot of confusion in the near future. It may also lead to a drop in sales, but on the flipside - it could boost them too.

Aye its crazy mad, not saying bad, just mad. Ive been sweating it over a new pooter now for almost a month its a joke. Ive done soo much bloody research. The only think holding me back is i want to see what them new r600 graphics chips from ATI.....I mean AMD are gonna be able to produce with unified pipelines. Simply because modern graphics are really straining with shader intensive games like Oblivion and Black and white 2 - Which i want to play and i need to play on widescreen resolutions....(its a long story).

Word Up!

Tell us the long story - widescreen gaming? You got yourself a new spanking Widescreen LCD/Plasma?

It appears that ATI/AMD have since said that they wont be dropping the name, but who knows.

And what are you ordering, in terms of hardware?

Matt
