I can highly recommend the online computer retailer - Scan.

I've ordered from them several times in the past, with each being fine. However, I placed an order on Saturday evening for a PSU, Mouse, HDD and DVD-RW for Project :: Blue PC. Monday morning I got stage 1 of 4, of their notification e-mails. Then 2. 3. And finally 4 at around midday.

Then just as I was leaving work at 5pm, I switched on my mobile and received a text message from them, telling me that my package had been dispatched!

They were right, as 8:30am this morning, I received it from a CityLink courier at my doorstep.

They've always been good with their delivery notifications, but receiving a text put them above the rest. Whether or not it was actually useful is another story - as I'd been checking the e-mail notifications that morning and I knew it was on its way. But hey.

If only Amazon followed in their footsteps. I ordered a DVD and a few games from them on Friday - but I've still not heard anything from them...

i bought a cheapo divx dvd player from amazon to watch my *ahem, special downloaded films. It broke in 2 days. Ok fine so ill send it back....i was awaiting for some shitty customer service but was shocked after i clicked a link to get DHL to pick up the duff one for free and they sent me a new one 1st class which arrived even b4 i sent the broke one back! thats the best return service ive had i gotta admit, only i wish id not clicked the DHL link, then i could have kept the broke player. Now to see if this one breaks. i think i used scan for my hd once, might use again then if they got good pricing.

I've found scan to be the cheapest for pretty much everything now. When I was placing my order on Sunday, Si said I could find it cheaper - but we check ebuyer, aria, dabs, misco, overclock, overclockers and several others. None had all of the components I wanted in stock together, or at a similar price or cheaper. Aria are great, mainly for their specials - but as he said, you have to wade through all the crap cheapy stuff to find decent gear.

I take back half of what I said about Amazon (not that I said anything) - they're good, but they don't inform you enough. I like to know what stage of the process my order is in, what time it was picked, who picked it, how many toes they have and stuff like that. Well maybe that's a bit extreme.

The only thing that annoys me now is Royal Mail - they're slow and lazy. The amazon package I ordered would easily fit through a letter box, or under the back gate - but nooooooooooooo, they left me a 'you were out' slip. Got to wait till the weekend when I can go to pick it up from them.

si always says u can find for cheaper hahaha I guess the information from amazon isnt bothering me now because someone (me then) is always in to recieve it. Im sure there will be beef later on.
