The weekend just gone was nice and sunny throughout - perfect for a barbecue; a bike ride; a beer or a Sunday drive in a convertible. The latter of which, I was enough fortunate to experience.

My uncle recently purchased a TVR Chimaera, from eBay of all places. It's an M-reg Chimaera 400 - a 4-litre V8:

It still looks as great as it did in the 90's and sounds unbelievable.

Whilst experiencing the thrill of having the roof down, driving along Britain's B-roads, I thought of owning one myself in the future - but the £2600 annual insurance makes me appreciate my 1.2 litre Punto and it's £500 insurance premium.

Even though the car is over 10 years old, it is still in very good condition as we spent the afternoon fixing a broken hinge on the boot prior to having a blast.

Of course, I'm shite when it comes to reviewing cars, so have a look at pistonheads.com for a better slice of TVR pie.

Ohhhh-jaaa Shhhpunken in my trunks. Is TVR British company still? Just curious. I've been geeking it a bit over cars this week after playing Forza 2. On the trip back to Plymouth today I found myself perving on cars in the wing mirrors; kinda worrying, especially since they were really ordinary cars like a Vaxhaull or something. I think you would like the game Mr Lazlow, its really nicely put together.

Here are 2 cars I've been making a paint job for, the 1st is my Mario Karr (get it?) a Clio V6 that honestly spins out on every corner because I've overpowered it or something lol. The second is my Jag that I've been using to paint Mario on because it has a large bonnet to do that. His head (not quite complete) took ages, about 4 hours and his body took even more, about 5.5hrs. It takes ages because of the way you have to draw things. I had to mainly use primative shapes to do it, like circles, squares, etc, so there was a bit of a learning curve. The head is about 120 layers and the body is about 180 layers. Luckily you get 1000 for each side of a Forza 2 car :) Needless to say I'm going to do the Mushroom and a couple of other things for a final Mario Karr that I'll Flog on the "Auction House" for whatever I can get.

If only to paint cars, I'll purchase Forza 2 early next week! Those look cool with a big 'el' at the end.

I think TVR is still owned by the Russian, but I'm not too hot on my manufacturers themselves - as they all seem to be owned by each other.

I think I need to re-think my borders-on-images as the smilies look odd like that.

Heh, yeah I've spent about 95% of the time painting the cars as opposed to driving, its addictive as hell. Forza 2 it a little easy on normal difficulty if you do want more of a challenge with the races then make sure you pick a higher level. Fr-fr-fr-fr-fr-fr-fr-fr-fresh.

Nice one. If you've got the time, paint a Skyline and post a pic!

Matt

You have just bought a Skyline, so you can paint it for real lol

Matt

I wanted my bumper off ya see!

Byron told me about the Skyline?! hahah is there a ebay link?!

Adamskii

I'll send you the link once I've been to see it (hopefully) on Saturday.

Insurance for a Skyline is such as hassle - I've phoned maybe 7 companies throughout the course of today, one guy laughed down the phone at me; others gave me excuses, such as I had to be 25 years old; some quoted me not-so-happy (2-3k); whereas others didn't quote me at all. The best price I've had is ~£990, which to me is fantastic.

Now to see it...

Matt

Sry still no Skyline, I picked Europe as starting area so can't buy any yet. I put it on this Bently Pic1 Pic1 Pic1

Whoops, would have been good to rename the links! oh well they are all different. I sold this car on the games Auction House & after a small bidding war I sold it for 1.1million hahaha. Yes I am a millionaire now.

That Bentley is super-cool - are you going to do a Luigi?

You realise this could become your full-time job? You could design these slick cars, sell them, then find a way to convert your credits into real money = great success!

Matt

If only! oh would i like to. Im trying a realistic one, its super solid and so far & I cant tell if its going well or not. I don't think the proportions will be spot on but close. I may have to take some artistic license to make it work.
