Well, it's taken the whole of the bank-holiday weekend, along with this evening too - but it's finally here... version 7 of slickhouse.com

In reality, it's just a new theme for WordPress, but the code has been re-written from the ground up and a few extra images have been painstakingly put together in Photoshop, for good measure.

It should also bring slickhouse.com into the Web 2.0 era, with the shiny footer icons and wallpaper background - which took several hours to create, from an actual off-cut of wallpaper that we picked up in Glynn Web. I knew the texture-tiling technique we were taught in Games Design would come in handy one day!

So, let me know what you think by leaving a comment below - and highlight any bugs you find too.

The MySQL DB is throwing up a few errors, but these should disappear sometime today...

Haha I found a problem!!! ^^

Adamskiis

What's the problem?

Matt

Thanks!

I've updated the Copyright - as Slickhouse.com is now under a Creative Commons license. See the Copyright Page for more information!

Matt

The problem? The link goes right outside the box!

Adamskiis

Ah, that problem - I've limited the Recent Comments to 20 characters. In IE6 it completely threw the layout off, resulting in a super-wide sidebar.

It's all fine now, in IE6; IE7; Firefox; Netscape and Opera.

Matt

I found a problem but you have to pay me £10 for each one i spot.

LordByron

ok i found 3 problems and ill give you these for free! 1) the times are incorrect to GMT. 2) The Send email button on the contacts page is in the text box. 3) the contacts page is not XHTML 1.1 Valid. You should fix these in no time.

Another comment. In work i have my brightness turned down to stop glare (a tip from mince man) and didnt even notice the back ground until i got home, i just thought it was black.

LordByron

Thanks for the problem finding Byron - I've got an hour or two in which I'll try and eliminate all the bugs...

Matt

Bo! Maybe I should rename it whorehouse.com?

Matt

Whorehouse? Yes it does look it I agree. Minceman gives all the best advice. I'll save your eyes in the long run Mr Mondo.

I've spent a few hours adjusting the new theme, but still have the contact form to sort out LordByron. It's currently a WordPress plugin that displays the form, but I'll change this to a hand-coded form very soon.

As for the GMT times - it is, but not BST, so is an hour behind this time of year. It's something out of my control though, as slickhouse.com is hosted on a shared server.

Matt

hehe, lots of code at the side of the screen, a nice new addition :D

Adamskiis

Nice aint it? Stupid MySQL server is playing up again - if it keeps it up I may end up looking for a new host.

Matt

I've sorted the contact form - I ended up editing the plugin directly to sort out the issue with the Submit button in IE7 and it also now validates.

If anyone encounters any other problems - let me know!

Matt
